This short term intensive unit is designed for adolescents in crisis who are displaying unsafe behaviors and may not be appropriate for hospitalization or may be stepping down from a hospitalization. Meals are brought in from the facility kitchen. All services take place in the living area or fitness area for recreation. The daily schedule is highly structured with an emphasis on therapy and safety. The schedule shifts from structured group activities to individual time focused on learning skills and self-discovery.
The support/maintenance program serves the general population who need continued support to prevent regression and teach healthy lifestyles. Staff conduct group activities that are therapeutically designed to address teamwork and trust. At the end of each activity, the staff process with the Clients to assist them in gaining an understanding of their interactions with others.
The Recreation Program at El Pueblo is a critical part of treatment. We believe it is critical that youth experience a variety of new activities and adventures to build self esteem and provide some exposure to healthy activities they may want to include in their lives in the future. At El Pueblo, every day will be filled with organized staff-directed and supervised recreation activities.
